The 2013 Dakine ISA World Junior Surfing Championship attracted more than 300 of the world’s best surfers from more than 30 countries. DHD is proud to have been represented by some of the world’s best junior surfers at such a prestigious event.

Team rider Jacob Willcox took home the gold medal in his U16 final against test pilot Leonardo Fioravanti. The pair swapped the lead for much of the heat before Willcox secured the win scoring an 8.40 with just over seven minutes remaining.

“The feeling hasn’t really set in yet, but when it does I’m going to be really stoked,” Willcox said. “I’m stoked for everyone who came out share the experience and I’m really happy Australia won gold.”

Team Rider Luke Hynd made the final in the U18 boys division and took fourth place overall.

“We are so proud of all the team riders and test pilots that competed in the ISA Juniors,” said junior team manager Andy Tuttle. “You know we see these kids competing all over Australia and doing very well, to see them get results against talented surfers from around the world is pretty amazing. DH and myself are stoked for Jacob and all the team riders and test pilots that competed in the event. All these guys have the talent to make it at the next level and we look forward to watching them grow as surfers and ambassadors of the sport.”
