“I’m actually really stoked right now — that was my first WSL Final and I was in the water with a really good mate,” Hynd said. “Jacko and I have done a lot of trips together and I’m stoked to see him win. It feels good to start the year with a good result. This event really suited me, with great long right handers on offer, so there wasn’t a lot of strategy or hassling, it was just about surfing.” – Luke Hynd, WSL

Luke Hynd has been one of the form surfers of the event since Day 1, using his lighting fast backhand attack to consistently post scores in the excellent range.

“It’s been a great event, we have really good waves and the level of surfing has been really high,” Nichols added. “I was starting to feel like I was coming down with the flu yesterday, but luckily for me I’m feeling much better today. Three heats and an event win, not a bad day in the office! I’m really happy to have won — thanks to WSL, Surfing NSW and all the event sponsors for making this event happen.” – Isabella Nichols WSL

Nichols sealed the victory with a long righthander, delivering precise, top-to-bottom turns to score an 8.75. Nichols booked her spot in the Final after some last-minute heroics in her Semifinal win over India Robinson.

Luke Hynd: The Set Menu

by DHD Surf

Luke Hynd is a surfer you should acquaint yourself with. For a collection of fabulous surfing, watch Luke’s “The Set Menu” a cinematic journey through three contrasting landscapes of Tasmania, South Australia & Indonesia.

“To make a good web clip”–since feature length surf film’s are slowly withering away into near-obsolete is the norm–“You have to be passionate about what you’re doing. Without that, you won’t create something you’re truly happy with.”

“We made our first trip for this in May to Indo,” continues Hynd. “Then we kept our eyes on the maps and kept the ball rolling. Luckily for us, we scored two good winter swells and had enough footage to be happy. We had three waves we wanted to shoot for the making of this project. We wanted contrasting landscapes, so we started with cold and in the snow. Then went to the desert in Australia and ended with Indonesia.

An Australian Adventure: Luke Hynd & Mikey Wright

by Tracks Magazine

Luke Hynd and Mikey Wright embark on a surfing odyssey in a quintessentially Australian film ‘ Wanderlust’. Chasing pumping waves with the nation’s best surfers, down schooners with cantankerous locals and visit some of the more innocuous nooks of the continent’s rugged fringes.

Luke Hynd - Wanderlust

Wanderlust lets you rediscover the country and the coastline you love. Be careful, you might even be inspired to toss it all in and embark on your own journey around The Great Southern Land. This year Mikey Wright and Luke Hynd will be roaming around the Land Down Under – chasing waves, catching up with surfing legends and sharing beers with classic Australian characters. Their itinerary is pretty loose and it’s the kind of epic road trip where anything could happen.
